Welcome to Massey Primary School.

We are a Y0 to Y8 Learning Zone.  At our school we have three sayings.

  • He Tangata, He Tangata, He  Tangata
  • Success Crowns Effort.
  • Be the best you can be.

These describe the focus our school community of Students ,Teachers and Parents.

Our core values are:

                                * I Care

                                * I Value

                                * I Respect

                                * I Reflect

                              * I Learn

about my learning, school, community and world.

Our new Zone is in place, you can find it on the Education counts web site.

 We look forward to 2024. We thank all of our school community for their support over the past year.

We believe that when a student leaves our school they are well equipped for whatever journey they start on.

Massey Primary provides a wide range of learning experiences to enable all learners to realise their potential.

We are part of the Governments "Donation  " initiative so we will not be asking for donations from Parents this year. We will be running a range of fundraising events throughout the year.

For 2024 we have employed a Teacher to teach Spanish to our Senior students.

All our classes, including the Junior school will deliver a learning programme on " stage not age", however the classes are not streamed .We continue to develop our "learning through Play" in our Junior school.

Classes continue to develop Personalised and Self Directed Learning.

We continue to develop our environment and are currently refurbishing our classroom blocks.

We are also working with the Ministry on a new classroom build programme.

We take a firm stand on inappropriate behaviour and any incidents of bullying and we ask the students to "tell' either you or staff if they are subjected to any of these events. We believe in empowering our students to cope with any incident. We are also a PB4L and restorative  school.

We believe in Education Outside the Classroom and  we will continue with outside the classroom experiences to enhance  learning. For 2024 our Y7/8 students will be off to Motutapu and our Y4-6 Team will have an EOTC week based at school. THe Junior school undertake a variety of trips.

We acknowledge and  celebrate all the different ethnic groups that make our school the positive learning environment it has become. We celebrate the different Language weeks.We are actively seeking to establish a Pacific Fono consultative group to work alongside our Pasific Culture group.

We acknowledge our Maori Whanau and have a supportive Whanau group but can do with more Whanau. We had  a strong Kapa Haka group . All Teams run their own Reo programmes incorporating them in their regular class programmes.

Our Staff, both professional and support, care for all our students and are highly skilled in providing teaching and learning programmes that meet the identified needs of the students. To assist us please ensure your child/children are at school on time and ready to learn. We now have a dedicated Learning Support Co ordinator and if you need help please contact us.

We are a Network for Learning school and this  enhances our blended e-learning programmes. We were the first school in NZ to be connected and the Board are supporting the children's learning by investing in Internet capable devices. We are a BYOD school. This  does not mean you need to provide a device as the school will provide for students.

For  2024 we will be taking our Year 7 & 8 Technocraft at Massey Primary with some provision at Massey High.

All our classes swim at  Massey High School with lessons taken by the Greenwood Swim School.

At Massey Primary we cater for the "whole" child and include a variety of extra curriculum activities.

 A positive feature of our school is our Library and Librarian, Mrs Gibson. If you have any queries about Holiday reading or access to books call in and see her.

We believe that all our students should be able to participate in all extra curricula events eg shows, trips and so we choose events that are either free or affordable for all. As we are part of the Government Donation scheme there will be no cost for families.

Our Orchard and gardens are now flourishing so come and have a taste.

 We are part of the Free Lunch scheme from Monday to Friday but this does not mean you cannot provide your own student with their own lunch.

As with current Government Policy no cell phones at school. If one is needed for medical reasons please supply a medical note and the phone will be kept in the office.

We welcome Parent/Whanau involvement. If you have any queries or concerns please come and talk to us as we rather we spoke instead of "facebook". We believe you are the most knowledgeable person about your child and we need to work alongside you to make a difference to your child's learning.

We have a most supportive Board of Trustees who ensure we have equatable opportunities for all our students.

We are  part of a Community of learning, Tiriwa Kahui Ako, involving ourselves, West Harbour, Colwill, Royal Road, Lincoln Heights , Don Buck and Massey High, West Bridge and our contributing ECE's.

Thanks to support of the Ted Manson foundation we have the use of Vans and a school Councillor through" I am Hope.'

If you are passing, drop in, have a coffee and we can share our learning stories.
