Massey Primary School

Welcome to Massey Primary School.

We are a Y0 to Y8 Learning Zone.  At our school we have three sayings.

  • He Tangata, He Tangata, He  Tangata
  • Success Crowns Effort.
  • Be the best you can be.

These describe the focus our school community of Students ,Teachers and Parents.

Our core values are:

                                * I Care

                                * I Value

                                * I Respect

                                * I Reflect

                              * I Learn

about my learning, school, community and world.

We believe that when a student leaves our school they are well equipped for whatever journey they start on.

Massey Primary provides a wide range of learning experiences to enable all learners to realise their potential.

We welcome your school donations. They are not "fees" but they do help to resource your child's learning.

For 2019 we have employed a Teacher to teach French  for our Senior students.

All our classes, including the Junior school will deliver a learning programme on " stage not age".  Classes continue to develop Personalised and Self Directed Learning.

We take a firm stand on inappropriate behaviour and any incidents of bullying and we ask the students to "tell' either you or staff if they are subjected to any of these events. We believe in empowering our students to cope with any incident. We are also a PB4L and restorative  school.

We believe in Education Outside the Classroom and have a yearly camp at Motutapu for our Y7 & 8 students and an Education Outside The Classroom week for our Y4,5 & 6 students. The rest of the school have trips or outside experiences to enhance their learning.

We are an inclusive school and we have a diverse school community. We also welcome onto our site a satellite unit from Arohanui School.

We acknowledge and  celebrate all the different ethnic groups that make our school the positive learning environment it has become. We are actively seeking to establish a Pacific Fono consultative group.

We acknowledge our Maori Whanau and have a supportive Whanau group. We have a strong Kapa Haka group run by Matua Bumpa who this year will teach Reo in the Y4/ classes. The Junior school and Y5/6/7/8 are running their own programmes.

Our Staff, both professional and support, care for all our students and are highly skilled in providing teaching and learning programmes that meet the identified needs of the students.

We are a Network for Learning school and this  enhances our blended e-learning programmes. We were the first school in NZ to be connected and the Board are supporting the children's learning by investing in Internet capable devices. We are moving towards a BYOD school. This  does not mean you need to provide a device as the school will provide for students.

In 2019 our Year 7 & 8 students will be attending Technocraft at Massey High School.   Students will be studying Food Technology, Resistant Materials Technology, Digital Technology and Textiles Technology over a two year cycle.  We see this as an excellent opportunity for our students transitioning to Massey High School.

All our classes swim at  Massey High School with lessons taken by the Greenwood swim school.

At Massey Primary we cater for the "whole" child. We have a variety of culture activities including Choir and Kapa Haka.

 A positive feature of our school is our Library and Librarian, Mrs Gibson. If you have any queries about Holiday reading or access to books call in and see her.

We believe that all our students should be able to participate in all extra curricula events eg shows, trips and so we choose events that are either free or affordable for all. If you feel you need help in the area of payment please come and talk to us.

Our Orchard and gardens are now flourishing so come and have a taste.

We are also a Fontera Milk school, Duffy Books school and are supported by Kids Can.

We welcome Parent/Whanau involvement. If you have any queries or concerns please come and talk to us as we rather we spoke instead of "facebook". We believe you are the most knowledgeable person about your child and we need to work alongside you to make a difference to your child's learning.

We have a most supportive Board of Trustees who ensure we have equatable opportunities for all our students. We are  part of a Community of learning, Tiriwa Kahui Ako, involving ourselves, West Harbour, Colwill, Royal Road, Lincoln Heights and Massey High and our contributing ECE,

We are also a member of Imoko ,a free health service for our families.

If you are passing, drop in, have a coffee and we can share our learning stories.
